Day at the Docks will be held from September 13-16, 2012 in Hatteras Village on the waterfront!  The Annual Day at the Docks brings local fishing families and tourists together on the waterfront for a celebration of life long traditions!  Commercial fishing boats, charter boats, and fishing gear are docked and displayed. Century-old workboats, including a traditional North Carolina shad boat, dock next to modern, state-of-the-art vessels. Captains and crews demonstrate the tools and skills working watermen use at sea. Professional and home chefs square-off in a chowder cook-off, and Outer Banks families share their special seafood cooking techniques. Be sure while you are here to stroll along the docks and visit with the commercial fishermen and charter boat captains and crews who will be demonstrating how their gear works and their fishing techniques. Stop by the educational tent and learn about the organizations and agencies that support professional watermen and fishing communities.  This is a wonderful event for everyone, residents and visitors, all are welcome to come out and join us for a day of fun.  There are fun activities going on throughout the day for all ages.  We hope to see you there!
